Google Search will display a map of suggested motels, each marked with the price. It takes longer to explore travel services such as Expedia or Priceline, but you can sometimes find discounts and last-minute deals. If you contact a motel directly by phone, consider requesting a discount, e.g., AAA, senior, etc. Motels sometimes are willing to match the price of nearby competitors.

Tips for using map on right
- Use your mouse wheel to zoom the view!
- The enlarged map has more features. For instance the map spots include a "View in Google Maps" link, which will show you a photo of the location, if available.
The marathon route is south of American River, from Folsom Lake to downtown. Fortunately, many of our suggested hotels are north of the river, as is the Woodland field trip. Check the marathon website for route details. Along the route, traffic chaos will be several streets wide from about 8:00a until mid-afternoon. East Sacramento, Midtown, and Downtown are especially impacted by spectators.
