Registration will remain open through the event. If we can’t fit you into the Saturday meals, take-out is available nearby, so please join us.
FRIDAY 12/1 – Del Mar & Encinitas (directions)
Morning
- 9:00 am – Meet at the Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve for a guided walk among the seaside woodlands and Southern maritime chaparral. $20 per vehicle, but free beach parking is available nearby. The Visitor Center is open from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm daily.
- Lunch – Many options along Hwy 101. Brigantine Seafood is easy to find and has a great view.
- 2:00 pm – Board of Directors – Casa Del Prado room 104, Balboa Park, San Diego – Contact John Hunter if you wish to attend.
- 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm – Neel’s Nursery in Encinitas and San Diego Botanic Gardens $18 per person (or possible guest passes if approved)
- Dinner and Socializing – Many options around San Diego. We need guidance on how many to expect. We can reserve at a location that provides good all around options for vegan and allergy free choices.
- CHAPTER COUNCIL meeting - AGENDA -TBA
- MINI FIELD TRIP - Tijuana Estuary / Border Field State Park
- Social Hour! (possibly at nearby location) Sea 180 and many brew pubs and restaurants are nearby
- Dinner Event - guest speaker TBD (Suggest Cesar Garcia Valderrama from Baja Chapter, but Greg Rubin, Jon Rebman, and Dennis Mudd are fine alternatives.)
SUNDAY 12/3 Options
Morning- FIELD TRIP (all day) - ANZA BORREGO STATE PARK - organized with Steele / Burnand Desert Research Center w/ Larry Hendricksen or Jim Dice
- FIELD TRIP (half day) - MISSION TRAILS REGIONAL PARK - organized with Mission Trails Regional Park Foundation
- 2:00 pm - Symposium Talk - TBD Tecolote Nature Center
Other Things To Do - For those staying longer in the area, we're assembling a list of local attractions...
- San Diego Zoo or Safari Park
- Living Coast Discovery Center
- San Diego Natural History Museum & and many other museums in Balboa Park
- December Nights in Balboa Park
- Baja California trips & tours (passport required) - We will discuss this option, though the logistics can be onerous.
