  • 9:00a - Field trip Meet at Nuui Cunni Native American Intertribal Cultural Center, 2600 CA-155, Lake Isabella, CA 93240.
    • Piute Mountain and Saddle Springs Road - led by Courtney Matzke and Richard Spjut. Vehicles should have high clearance and good tires. From around 3800 ft in Douglas oak woodland, the road ascends through various vegetation alliances, a few of which are shown in Mimulus Memo. At the higher elevation, Jeffrey pine forest is common, and on limestone ridges along the north slope of Piute Peak one may see the rare Eriogonum breedlovei, though we probably won't go that far.
    • Other options may include Shirley Meadows or other areas in the Greenhorn Range.
