hosted by North Coast Chapter
Friday 9/8 to Sunday 9/10 - Trinidad, Eureka and nearby

In-Home Lodging - We are hoping to lodge as many people as possible with chapter members. This is a great way to save money and get to know the locals. Arrangements will include guest rooms and also floor and couch space for those willing to "rough it". If interested, complete the linked form.
Motels - There are more local options besides the four that we suggest. When dealing with a motel by phone, requesting a "discount" (e.g., AAA, senior, etc.) can often result in a quote lower than what is advertised online.- Super 8 by Wyndham - Currently the least expensive. At the north end of Arcata.
- Motel 6, Arcata - Close to the Super 8. Both motels are being used to supplement the student housing at Cal Poly Humboldt.
- Holiday Inn Express Arcata/Eureka - A higher-end option at the airport.
- Emerald Forest Cabins - Very close to the Saturday and Sunday programs. Rustic but not cheap.
- Priceline Express Deal - Trying various Priceline online "deals," we discovered a search combination that revealed a $71 per night offering. It may or may not still be available - but worth a try.
Camping -Campsites are available by reservation at Sue-meg State Park, which is also the location of our Sunday program. Another nearby option is Clam Beach County Park, but they don't take reservations.
TRANSPORTATION TIPS (jump to Lodging) - Yes, we can pick you up at the airport or bus station.
Local Directions & Parking - Details to supplement the map (right) or your own online driving directions.
Tips for using map on right
- Use your mouse wheel to zoom the view!
- The enlarged map has more features. For instance the map spots include a "View in Google Maps" link, which will show you a photo of the location, if available.
- Humboldt County Library (BoD Friday) - 1313 3rd St., Eureka CA 95521 (corner of O st.)
From HWY 101 northbound (5th St), turn left on L St. From HWY 101 southbound, turn right at O st. Note that 3rd St. does not cross the Samoa Bridge traffic. - Gordo & Julies (dinner Friday) - 1812 Fischer Ave, McKinleyville, CA 95519
Exit Hwy 101 at School Rd. (second exit after the Mad River Bridge) West on School Rd., at Roger's Market, turn right on Fischer. Their driveway is at the corner of Montana, inline with Fischer and to the left of the yellow bollards that keep cars off the Hammond Trail. You may park on the grassy strip on the right side of Fischer, and also on the north side of Montana. For those who need it, there is limited parking up the driveway in front of the house. Double check to make sure you are not blocking anyone elses driveway. - Trinidad Town Hall (CC Saturday) - 409 Trinity Street, Trinidad, CA 95570
From HWY 101 proceed west on Main Street and note Murphy's Market on right. Main St. turns left to become Trinity Street, and the town hall is on the left. On the right, across from the Town Hall, early arrivals may park in the lot of Trinidad Elementry School. Overflow parking is behind Murphy's, off of View Ave. - Sue-Meg Village (Sunday) - Sue-meg State Park
From Hwy 101, proceed south parallel to the freeway on Patrick's Point Dr. The park entrance is on right. Enterance fee is waived for the CNPS/Rancheria event. Inside the Park, the nearest parking to Sue-meg Village is at Red Alder Picnic Area.
On The Road
- Ride Sharing -The main road corridors are HWY 101 from the Bay Area, and HWY 299 from Redding. Consider sharing the drive with another chapter - it's congenial, informative, and fun. Why drive alone when there will be other delegates taking the same route?
