FRIDAY 9/8 – Eureka and McKinleyville (directions)

- 9:00 am – Meet at the Humboldt Coastal Nature Center for a guided walk in the Somoa Dunes & Wetlands, led by Laurel Goldsmith and Barbara Reisman. – The Nature Center is open 10 am to 4 pm Wednesday through Saturday.
- after 11:00 am – visit the North Coast Chapter’s Native Plant Nursery and Garden
- 2:00 pm – Board of Directors – Humboldt County Library 1313 3rd St., Eureka CA 95521 – contact John Hunter if you wish to attend.
- 2:15 pm – Guided Tour of the Chapter Nursery and Garden and the adjacent Freshwater Farm Reserve
- starting 6:00 pm – Chow-down and Socialize at Gordon Leppig and Julie Neander’s place, 1812 Fischer Ave, McKinleyville, CA 95519. Pot-luck and beverages courtesy of the North Coast Chapter. (limit appx. 50 – sign-up at registration)

8:00 am – Breakfast snacks | 9:00 am meeting starts.
- 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm – Lunch: Build your own gyro: pita, falafel balls (vegetarian, gluten free), gyro meat, dolmas, sauces – by “Kebab Cafe,” Arcata. (sign-up at registration)
Plus an optional stroll to the nearby Native Plant Garden of the Trinidad Museum – effectively weed-free despite its size. Members of the volunteer crew will be on-site to discuss the garden’s history and challenges. The museum will be open, too. - 3:30 pm – Spruce Forest & Sea – If the Saturday Council meeting adjourns early, there will be an optional walk in Trinidad State Beach, which starts just a block away. We’ll stroll through the spruce forest and down to the beach and return in time for Happy Hour. Whet your appetite while experiencing the lush vegetation and epic scenery of the far northern California coast.

Native Plant Conservation, an Indigenous Perspective -
a symposium at Sue-Meg Village, organized by Trinidad Rancheria in partnership with CNPS.

Afternoon
- 2:00 pm - Field trip to the nearby Big Lagoon Bog - (technically not a bog but a fen), led by Greg O'Connell, CA F&W. Learn about the restoration and monitoring efforts. Your feet might get wet - participation limited to minimize impact. A few slots still available. We'll meet at the county park. $5 per car use fee. (cash in envelope)
- 2:00 pm - Sue-meg Village - Join the official daily interpretive walk. (no signup required)

- Madaket cruises on Humboldt Bay - Kayak rentals are available at Humboldt Bay and Big Lagoon.
